Volunteers Welcome!
SMO is looking for compassionate people to help empower single parents.

Attention students, church groups, parents, single parents, under or unemployed professionals: Single Mothers Outreach has a volunteer opportunity for you!

Why should you serve at SMO? Here are a few reasons

  • You will build skills that you may not presently possess
  • You will meet other compassionate people in the SCV that you would not meet otherwise
  • You will build your resume with work experience
  • If you are a high school student, volunteering at SMO will help strengthen your college application
  • If you are unemployed, volunteering will give you meaning and purpose (not to mention building your resume) while you seek employment

There are several places to serve:

  • On a committee–we have several to choose from: PR/Marketing, Programs and Services, Fund Development, Social Enterprise, Single Parent Alumnae Association (a service organization of former single parents or single parents with grown children). Meetings are generally held once per month
  • Help in the office for special projects such as mailings, covering the phones, etc.
  • Help us in the Closet. Very soon we will be recruiting a team to meet at the Closet once a week to help us sort clothing donations to serve our families
  • Child care providers for parent workshops and classes
  • Help us plan a special event – we host two kinds of events: single parent events and fundraising events
  • Provide a service to a single parent family – we love handymen, hair stylists, computer experts, tutors, babysitters, dentists, massage therapists…do you have a service you can give to a single parent?

Some activities are ongoing and some are short-term projects. No matter what your time availability, we can find something for you. Contact us today!
