 2012 Theme: Iconic

Oprah Winfrey is an icon. There are sports icons, music icons, business icons.  These exemplars play an important role in serving as role models, as setting the bar to which many aspire.  In 2012, Single Mothers Outreach will honor 12 women who set the standard, who serve as an example, who define.

Do you know an iconic woman? We invite you to submit your nomination and we invite interested artists to create original works of art based on their stories next year at the 3rd Annual Empowering Hearts Gala and Art Exhibit on November 3, 2012.

Following the unveiling of the 2011 Collection at the Gala Event, the entire collection will travel to the Westfield Valencia Town Center Mall to be put on public display from December 2011 - March 15, 2012. Afterward the art is returned to its sponsors.

Join us for an evening of live music and jazzy elegance at the second annual Empowering HeARTS, "Breaking Barriers" gala event, slated for Saturday, November 19, 2010 at the Dr. Dianne G. Van Hook University Center.

Guests are sure to be moved by the music as well as the art and creative narratives depicting the stories of significant women in our community. A local artist will capture the essence of each honoree and her story through photography, sculpture, or in a painting. The community will celebrate the honorees during an elegant evening of wine, hors d’oeuvres, and music.

A grand prize will be awarded for the most inspiring art.

Twelve Honorees

We all know an amazing woman living in Santa Clarita who has overcome adversity and broken through an economic, gender, medical, political, or racial barrier. She may be your neighbor, co-worker, sister, mother, grandmother, wife or friend. Consider honoring her by sponsoring her inspiring story in print and an art exhibit.

 Nominate an honoree here.
